Every year when this happens I am reminded of a "when I grow up" ideal I used to hold. In my family all birthdays & anniversaries occurred in the last half of the year. I thought this was poor planning- wouldn't it be nice to have parties interspersed throughout the whole year instead of crammed into 6 months? I decided when I grow up I would arrange things that way. Funny how some things fade into oblivion when you fall in love. JR's birthday is the end of Aug. 1 week later is R's b-day. 2 weeks later is A's b-day. 1 month later is my b-day. 1 month after that is our anniversary, followed by the holidays, and then JS's b-day clinging to the heels of New Years Day. Wow! Not only did I fail to spread the parties out, I managed to cram them all into about 4 months!
Here is JR with his cake. 16 years old! We had a nice party for him & R on Sunday evening. (He just got contacts; his lenses were getting so thick we allowed him to switch to contacts. It's not as easy as he thought learning to put them in though.) He got quite a few books for his b-day, all of which I am interested in reading when I find the time. We expect the drivers permit to be acquired in the near future.

We got a DQ Reeses PB cup cake for R. No pic; no big deal. A asked R in amazement if he's not even excited about his b-day. R's b-day gift will be a hot air balloon ride.

I hope R enjoys his hot air balloon ride. I had one a few years ago to add to my list of things I've done. Glad I did it. Between the takeoff and landing, it was kind of boring, relaxing, intriguing. . . definitely worth it.
