Grandparents Day

This year our school had Grandparents Day in November for the first time ever. Look at us -being old enough to have a grandchild in school! Just barely, I might point out.

It was so much fun to visit Avery's little classroom, the same room in which we took her daddy to Kindergarten, same desks. There are only 4 Kindergarteners this year, but an excellent veteran teacher.

With much nervousness, they said their vowel sounds and counted to 100 for us grandparents.

Holding PopPop's hand helps with shyness when a bunch of big people invade one's classroom. 😍
I find it incredible that they teach Kindergarteners cursive before printing these days.
With Nana. How cute is that fake smile?!

After we had opportunity to visit classrooms, the students did a program for the grandparents. Here the Kindergarteners are saying a poem they memorized...
The Little Turtle
-by Vachel Lindsay
There was a little turtle.
He lived in a box.
He swam in a puddle.
He climbed on the rocks.

He snapped at a mosquito.
He snapped at a flea.
He snapped at a minnow.
And he snapped at me.

He caught the mosquito.
He caught the flea.
He caught the minnow.
But he didn't catch me!

We would say it was a successful event!
