Of Graduations

College graduations are not everyday occurrences in our family. But this past weekend R & I were among the honored guests invited to witness the commencement exercises of my only sibling who has made it that far. My youngest brother graduated with a Bachelor degree in Nursing.
Due to the university limiting the number of guests per graduate, our children were not able to attend. However, it was broadcast via podcast which they were able to watch.

This was an occasion close to my heart because it is my life dream. When R came into my life, I was on the verge of pursuing a RN degree myself; I was enrolled at the same college where G started out. I must confess that I got tears in my eyes a couple of times during the ceremony. An odd mixture of intense pride, happiness and a twinge of sadness that my life went down a different path. Do not misunderstand- I do not regret getting married; I just don't understand why God never took away the dream when He closed the door.

We celebrated afterwards with a party at my other younger brother's house. And surprised our favorite Graduate Nurse with the gift of a laptop.

I would like to think I was G's biggest fan, but I think I've been replaced...
My hat is off to K, who managed to be an asset instead of a distraction!
G has worked hard and I know he will do an excellent job as a critical care nurse. I couldn't be prouder if I had footed the tuition bill myself. :)
